The boy and I took ourselves to The Savoy Hotel to celebrate our anniversary last year.
We started at The American Bar for a pre dinner tipple. You cannot book the bar but we turned up at about 8pm on a Saturday night and were seated within 5 mins. There was a huge variety of cocktails to choose from but I would thoroughly recommend The Golden Era. The endless olives and nuts were also well received and the Piano Man gave the whole bar a lovely relaxed and refined atmosphere.
From here we made our way over to Gordon Ramsay's Savoy Grill. This place was amazing, tables were perfectly spread out to enable intimate conversations and large groups to not be on top of one another. There were lots of sofa / booth style tables so you could sit next to your other half as well, which was cosy and comfortable. The dining room was grand and fancy and definitely made you feel like you were out for a special treat.
The boy helped himself to smoked salmon to start, I tried a little and it was very good. We followed this with the Chateaubriand. We were recommended to share two sides between us but we chose three, which I am glad we did as the vegetables were very small so three worked out perfectly. For dessert I had my favorite hot chocolate fondant, which was exquisite.
As a little surprise they brought us a mini chocolate cake and ice cream with Happy Anniversary, which I thought was a really lovely touch.
Yes, this place is expensive but it's a top London restaurant and run by Gordon himself! This is a treat venue but treated you will be, enjoy!
