Birthday @ City Social

For the other halves first birthday as a husband I treated him to dinner at the Michelin starred City Social and what an experience it was.

On entering the restaurant what strikes you is the amazingly cool dark decoration and the incredible views over London. I think I actually prefer these views to the Shard!

The service is incredible, the staff pay you so much attention, explain everything but not in an awkward or patronizing way and are very well trained in how to serve the food and drinks.

The grub here is excellent and well worth it's recent Michelin star. We had the smoked salmon and the terrine to begin with and both were delightful. Then we shared the cote de boeuf for two, which came with a duck fat chips each so there was no arguing or sharing needed!!!!!

We were too full for dessert after some celebratory champagne and red wine but were not rushed off of our table and were able to sit and admire the view for a little while.

City Social is pricey but no more expensive than other top London restaurants and the setting, service and food quality combination make it a perfect date retreat or special occasion restaurant. I would probably recommend couples over groups as the decor is dark and romantic and ideally suited for an intimate night for two.
