Looking Down on London Town - Oblix

I recently dined at Oblix for a much needed date night! Now I had phoned in advance to say this was a special occasion and could we request a window table, I was promptly told these cannot be reserved and were luck of the draw on the day. On arrival there was a window table available but sadly we were not allowed it...... However, the restaurant is set up to have a view from wherever you were sat, so it was not the end of the world.

The service was mixed, they were very slow and forgot our bread, which was a shame but the food quality did make up for the service issues.

We started with the smoked salmon and cream cheese flat bread, which was huge and definitely ideal for sharing, however, we had also ordered the seared beef, which was delicious. We followed with the lamb chops and the king prawns with sides of a baked potato, french fries and some carrots. The prawns were quite a small portion for the price but tasted good and the lamb chops were great.

For dessert we shared a Chocolate Brownie Sunday. I was a little disappointed with this, there was no where near enough brownie and way too many cashews.

With two glasses of wine and 12.5% service charge our bill was £140, bearing in mind it costs £24.95 each just to head to the viewing platform of the Shard (we have also done this in a separate occasion) it does make sense to have a cocktail or a meal. The food is good, the view is excellent but the service needs to play catch up.
